Below are my photos for each type of composition that we have studied. The different compositions are as follows; centre and off-centre, symmetry, rule of thirds, 6:3, Phi grid, Fibonacci spiral and golden triangle. I have explained each of the photos and why they fit there compositions below the relevant image.
Centre
This image shows the centre composition. This photo is of a small hanging ornament which I have centred in the photograph. I chose this small ornament as it was a good size to get in the centre of the shot. I also made sure that I had a nice plain background so that you focus on the ornament more.
Off-Centre
This image show the off-centre composition. This photo is of a small potted plant that is of to the left of the photo so that it is not centred. I chose this small plant pot as it allowed room to shown that it wasn't in the centre and that you can look past it making it not the main focus. To make it so it wasn't the main focus I made sure I include something in the background like the plug socket.
Symmetry
This image show the symmetry composition. This photo is of a pair of small cacti plants in some nice grey pottery. Because of the way that I had position these plants they look symmetrical in the photo. Although they are not exactly the same because I made the plants and their pots small an in close proximity the get away with being symmetrical.
Rule of Thirds
This image is of the Rule of thirds composition. This composition was hard to take a photo for but luckily this candle holder seems to meet up with the grid lines. Each of the 4 corners of the front glass on the candle holder meet up with a point on he grid. I chose to use this candle holder as it was quite big so it fill up the grid well.
6:3
This image is of the 6:3 composition. This photo is of my old Xbox that is a great size for splinting the shot into 6:3. I placed the Xbox on the floor and adjusted the camera so that 3 was on the Xbox and 6 was on the background. This was also a tricky one but I manage to get it by adjusting where I placed the Xbox.
The last 3 compositions; Phi Grid, Fibonacci spiral and the golden triangle were hard to find so unfortunately I ran out of time and couldn't add them so I have left and example for each of them below.
Phi Grid
Fibonacci Spiral
The Golden Triangle
Feedback
After receiving feedback on my photos there is some things I would have changed if I were to do this again.
Centre: With the image for centre composition I would make sure that I take the photo of the ornament from further back so that the ornament is in the centre lines of the picture.
Off-Centre: With the image for off-centre I would not make any changes as I think it is my best picture as agreed on my my feedback.
Symmetry: With the image for symmetry I would take more care in making sure that the bottom of the photo is symmetrical, as with close inspection you can see a circular indent in the surface that I placed the cacti on.
Rule of Thirds: With the image for rule of thirds I would make the room that I took the picture in darker and I would light the candle to better show how the Candle holder is in the grid of the photo.
6:3: With the image for 6:3 I would make the background more interesting son that the 6 in the 6:3 is more present than a blank wall. I would probably make the background of a live television that is displaying the game on the Xbox.
