I am applying for this course because over the last two years I have taken a great interest in the process that video games are developed and designed. After experimenting and learning about all aspects of the game industry I have decided that I would like to study this course as I feel it will help develop my skills in 3D modelling and Art as well as extending my interest in the topic.
This course interests me as it focuses on two core skills that I am looking to further improve in, these skills are Drawing and 3D modelling two skills that I have been practicing for a while but now I am ready to take and focus into a higher level.
I feel that I am suitable for the course as I have already got a understanding to how the process of 3D Art works. I would consider my self experienced in this subject as I have been working with art and 3D skill for nearly two years now.
I think that my current study in Game Design provides a strong link to your course as it teaches the skills required to move on two a high level of education in any Game subject, so the skills I have learned should give me a helping hand when studying with you.
I would consider myself as someone with great communication skills as I find it easy to talk to a wide range of people throughout my day to day life, I mainly developed this when working my part time job at a pub in my local area. It was through my job that I got to meet new people overall improving my social skills. I feel that with this skill It will be easier for me to thrive in the university environment that I am applying for.
In terms of achievements and responsibility's' I have developed a few over the years from playing a favourite sport of mine golf. I am lucky enough to be apart of a golf club in my local area where I have taken part in various competitions, some for rewards and trophies and also some for charity. The last competition I entered I was fortunate enough to win, this gave me a really sense of achievement and made taking part even more special. From my years of playing golf I have been given the responsibility of welcoming other junior golfers and making them feel welcome to the Golf club and also giving them someone to play with. I found this very rewarding as I get to meet new people and make new friends on the course.
Unfortunately I have not been able to acquire any course related jobs or placements due to the tough time Covid-19 gave us. Although, I have been fortunate to have kept my job at the pub so I have work experience in from there. My job unfortunately doesn't give me any course related skills like art and drawing, but it has gave me excellent communication and teamwork skills that I can use on this course. Through my working experience at the pub I have met a lot of people, including someone who works in the gaming industry, specifically for a company called Code masters. He is definitely someone I am looking to learn from and talk to about the future after my time at University.
I would love to use the knowledge and experience gained throughout the course to secure my self a job at a studio where I can work as a 3D artist to make props and models for a game. In the long term I would like to work for a Triple A company but I can only do so with the help of your course. Overall I would love to be able to take advantage of all that the course has to offer in order to get myself to the next stage in my career.
