This blog post is about the UV checker tool, this is what enable you to check how well you have unwrapped your models. Below I have left some imagery with a step by step guide on how to apply the UV checker map.
First of all you must take your model into the UV editing tab and then create a new image as shown below, you have to change the image property from blank to grid before pressing ok.
Once you have changed the image property you should notice that your UV grid has changed to a checker board pattern as shown below.
Once this checker pattern has applied the next step is to apply the checkered pattern on to your model. To do this we need to use material in order to project the image onto the model you are using. The first step is to make a new material and then change the color option to image texture as shown below.
Once you have your material and you have changed the color to image texture you are ready to change the image to the checker pattern seen in the UV editing tab, to do this click the icon to the left of the add new button and select the checker grid as shown below.
Now that the checker grid has been selected, the final step is to change the viewport to shading and you will see that the model now has the texture of a checkered grid as displayed below.
That concludes this blog post about UV checkers, this is a useful piece of knowledge that helps allot with unwrapping and making sure your models are neat and ready for texturing.
